Hi again!

Hi again :)

After a makeover of my blog, I decided to start writing a little bit again.

I finally got my offer of the University of Melbourne yesterday, so I’m officially a poor student again. And more good news, because I also received an email that I’m invited to present at a conference in Auckland in July! I miss the traveling so that will be heaps of fun.

It’s been a while that I’ve wrote, so I will try to update you a little bit with what I’ve been doing. But instead of trying to come up with a funny story, I think it’s more entertaining to watch pictures :) Well alright a little story then...

Once upon a time.... alright, alright, no Disney story ;)!

Since October I met a couple of Dutch people; Merel, how is still here, and Freek, Roel and Ruud who are already back in the Netherlands or still traveling but outside of Australia. They played in an Australia footy team, called ‘the internationals’. Every Monday we train with not just Dutch people, but Swiss, Australian, Canadian, French, Italian people. That’s why we are called the internationals ;) We played in the spring and summer competition and have a break now. The real AFL is on now with
all the strong, muscular guys.

Via Uni I met Liesbeth, another Dutch girl, she already knew Maaike. So the Dutchies are expanding in Melbourne. Next weekend Merel, Maaike, Liesbeth and I will go to Sydney.

Jack is finally a pilot! Because of the weather he couldn’t fly for a couple of weeks and even had to get a bridge visa to finish his course. But finally the weather was good enough on Wednesday for him to do his big exam. But it’s a little bit sad as well, because he is flying back to Italy while I'm writing this. The other guys have left as well, so Jack is the last one of my little Italian family to go. I'm sad at the moment, but happy that he is a pilot now and will be reunited with his family and friends again.

Since last weekend I moved back to the city. My new address is 16 David St. Carlton, VIC, 3053. I wanted to put pictures up of my new room, but it’s better to pack up my room first ;) It looks like a bomb has exploded there. I moved in with a friend/colleague Vanessa, her boyfriend Flo, Kristina and Damian. The room is pretty big and cheap for Melbourne terms. We have a nice garden with a big BBQ, nice Aussie style ;) plus a big screen tv with a lot of channels, with on SBS NOS news :D But
my favourite program is the Australian ‘boer zoekt vrouw’ alias ‘farmer wants a wife’.

This weekend was the Grand Prix Australia 2011. Murdoch Childrens Research Institute was the official charity of this event and Merel, Liesbeth and I volunteered to raise money. The big price was to wave the checkered flag at the end of the F1 race, pretty exciting price. Unfortunately we haven't figured out who won the price :)
